What: Sensory Saturday & Storytime: Read to a Chicken!

Where: Caseyville Public Library District

When: Saturday, September 12th| 10:30am-1:30pm

(STORYTIME AT 10:30AM)

Sensory Saturdays occur every 2nd Saturday of the Month​​

Sensory Saturdays are a pleasant sensory experience at Caseyville Library aimed for neurodiverse individuals and families of all ages.

  • Storytime & Songs starts at 10:30am

  • Each 2nd Saturday the library will featured dimmed lighting, lower volume, sensory activities, themed story times, arts & crafts.

  • Sensory aid backpacks equipped with tools and aids like sunglasses, headphones, stimming tools, and visual communication supports are also available for in-library use and checkout. 

  • Esther the Comfort Dog will also be available to be read to. Reading to pets boosts reading confidence and curbs reading anxiety.

What: Kids Art Club

Where: Caseyville Public Library District

When: Wednesday, October 21st | 2:30-3:30pm

Who: Kids ages 8-12

 

We will be learning about Van Gogh's art and creating our own still life drawings.

Kids Art Club is a drop-in art class for ages 8-12 that will be held on the third wednesday of the month from 2:30-3:30pm. Young artists will learn about an artist and their work and learn about a different art technique each session.

Other information

  • You do not have to have a Caseyville Library card to attend and do not have to have attended the previous sessions to join.

  • This is a free public event.

  • Parents/Guardians of kids ages 8-10 will need to remain on the library grounds for the session.

  • Parents/Guardians of kids 11-12 may leave and come back at 3:30.

What: Trick-or-Treating at the Library!

Where: Caseyville Public Library District

When:Thursday, October 29th| 5-7:30pm

Trick-or-Treat at your favorite library!
Come play games, win candy, make Halloween crafts, brave the crawl-through spooky house, and play in the library!
Don't forget to check out some spooky books and ghost stories before you leave.

What: Teen Advisory & Volunteer Group

Where: Caseyville Public Library District

When: Quarterly meetings: September, December, February, & April

Our Teen Advisory Group is for 12-18 year-olds who love reading, libraries, or helping the community. We will discuss ideas for events and volunteer opportunities at the library, plan and assist with library programs, and raise funds for the library and host community drives.

​

This is a great opportunity for teens to build on their leadership and teamwork skills that can be transferred to many future endeavors.

Group Benefits:

What: Japanese Lessons

Where: Caseyville Public Library District

When: August 1st, 11am-12pm​​

  • Learn Japanese with language expert, Yoko Seto. Drop in at any date to learn the basics. We will cover greetings and basic language skills, Japanese ABCs, language history and philosophy, and Japanese socio-cultural learning. Each class will be on the first and third Saturday of the month from 11am to 12pm. Each month we will emphasize a different aspect of Japanese culture that corresponds with that time of year.

When: 3rd Thursdays of the Month

  • A Book and an Appetizer group meeting monthly at the Caseyville Public Library! Come enjoy the discussions on the most recent book YOU read! Remember: bring YOUR book you're reading and a snack! See you at our next meeting! Get-togethers are held the third Thursday of each month at 6:00 p.m.
