Looking Out For You! is a health & physical literacy initiative that encourages physical activity, promotes  the outdoors, and provides resources relating to health and wellness.

Caseyville Public Library has been Awarded the Fitbit Kit Grant

This grant that was funded by the National Network of Libraries of Medicine (NNLM) "to help public libraries support the health information needs of the community.... While interest in health-related programs and services has increased, many libraries and other community organizations lack adequate funding to provide health related materials. The Resolve to Stay Active Fitbit Kits will lower barriers to providing health-related programs and outreach in public libraries and other community organizations." (National Network of Libraries of Medicine, Greater Midwest Region)

Caseyville residents are able to check out from the local library! Fitbits are not only available for single checkouts, but the Caseyville Public Library has also developed the health and physical literacy initiative and specific programs to promote Fitbit usage.

Library Binocular Program

Library Telescope Program

Binocular image.jpg

The St. Louis Astronomical Society, the Astronomical Society of Eastern Missouri and the Eastern Missouri Dark Sky Observers club in Missouri, and the Riverbend Astronomy Club in Illinois have partnered with the St. Louis Audubon Society to create a unique program where libraries can offer their patrons a binocular "kit" for use in stargazing and birdwatching.

The Library Telescope Program seeks to foster scientific literacy, stimulate an interest in astronomy and provide people who have never looked through a telescope the chance to experience the excitement that comes from discovery. The program takes advantage of the public library system infrastructure to place telescopes in local public libraries for circulation just like a book.
